The CIDG along with the local PNP had launched its anti-loose firearms campaign through the implementation of Search Warrants (SWs) on Thursday, October 11, 2018 which resulted in the apprehension of a Barangay Captain and five (5) others.

During these operations, a total of six (6) firearms (FAs), nine (9) magazines and more than 85 rounds of assorted ammunition were seized by the police authorities.

Reports submitted to CIDG Director, PDir Roel B Obusan, stated that the arrested persons were identified as RANDY MACABITAS y PARCHAMENTO, GENE BROZOWSKI y ALZATE, GENER DESEDERIO JR y DE JESUS, PATRICIO RAMOS y GARCIA, PEDRO CATAMORA y GOLLEN a.k.a. “Pedring” and DEMETRIO DEOCAMPO y MENDOZA.

Macabitas who is the incumbent Brgy. Chairman of Baroro, Bacnotan, La Union was apprehended at around 6:05 AM in the said Brgy. by joint elements of the CIDG PFU-La Union supervised by CIDG RFU 1 Regional Chief, PSSupt Rommel Ochave, La Union PPSC and Bacnotan Municipal Police Station (MPS) for possession of a 12-gauge shotgun, 16 rounds of ammunition, FAs license card, two (2) expired Permit to Carry FAs license cards and a pouch.

In his report, PSSupt Christopher Abrahano, Regional Chief, CIDG RFU 3 said that Desederio and Ramos were collared while in possession of a caliber .45 pistol, four (4) magazines and 20 rounds ammunition by detectives of the CIDG PFU-Bulacan at about 7:00 AM in Brgy. Patag, Sta. Maria, Bulacan and for possession of a caliber .40 pistol, 2 magazines and 27 rounds ammunition by police operatives of the CIDG PFU-Nueva Ecija at around 8:10 AM in Brgy. Imbunia, Jaen, Nueva Ecija, respectively.

Meanwhile, the same police operatives from the CIDG PFU-Nueva Ecija implemented a SW against ALBERT NAGUM y EVANGELISTA a.k.a. “Ahas” at about 10:00 AM in Brgy. Imbunia, Jaen, Nueva Ecija.  Nagum was not around during the said police operation, however, the nephew of the subject person identified as PO2 June Mallari surrendered a caliber .45 pistol loaded with magazine.

At the same time in Brgy. Tomaliguis, Calbayog City, Samar, Catamora was nabbed by the CIDG RFU 8 based in Western Samar headed by its Regional Chief, PSupt Eddie Alejandro together with the Calbayog City Police Station (CPS) for possession of a caliber .45 pistol loaded with magazine and seven (7) rounds of ammunition.

Deocampo was arrested by detectives of the PFU-Oriental Mindoro and RFU 4B, both of CIDG headed by its Regional Chief, PSupt James Allan Logan at around 1:45 PM in Brgy. San Antonio, Victoria, Oriental Mindoro while in possession of a caliber .9mm pistol, magazine and 18 rounds of ammunition.

All subject persons will be facing charges for violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law) while a manhunt operation is being conducted to locate the whereabouts of Nagum.   ###
