A staff of the National Finance Commission (NFC) of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) and her husband were arrested during a police operation launched by operatives of the CIDG and other PNP units on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at about 9:30 PM in Bulacan.
Joint elements of the CIDG Intelligence Division, CIDG Anti-Organized, MFC-DI, 8th Infantry Division, RACU3, EOD-K9, and RMFB-PRO3 proceeded to the residence of 64-year-old ROSITA SOLAYAO TABOY a.k.a. “Laling” in Phase 3A, Sapang Lamig St. Towerville, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan to served three (3) arrest warrants for the following crimes:
– ARSON issued by Hon. Acerico A. Avila, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 29, Catbalogan, Samar dated October 6, 2017;
– MURDER issued by Hon. Decoroso M Turla, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 21, Laoang, Northern Samar dated January 12, 2012; and
– FRUSTRATED MURDER issued by Hon. Decoroso M. Turla, Presiding Judge, RTC Branch 21, Laoang, Northern Samar dated January 11, 2012.
Taboy’s husband, Antonio Legazpi was also arrested for trying to destruct the police from apprehending the accused.
Police found in the possession and control of the arrested persons the following pieces of evidence:
– One (1) caliber .38 revolver;
– One (1) caliber .45 pistol;
– One (1) magazine of caliber .45
pistol;
– Seven (7) rounds of caliber .45
ammunition;
– Seventeen (17) rounds of ammunition
for caliber .38;
– One (1) dynamite;
– Two (2) electric blasting caps;
– One (1) 9ft detonating cap;
– One (1) laptop with charger;
– Two (2) sling bags;
– Two (2) cellular phones;
– Two (2) USB flash drives;
– Three (3) TIN IDs bearing different names;
– Nine (9) audio-visual discs/compact discs;
– Ten (10) Sim cards with different networks; and
– Three (3) envelopes containing subversive documents.
The Director of the CIDG, PBGen Romeo M Caramat Jr, said that the husband and wife duo are known members of the CTG under the Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee (EVRPC) wherein @ “Laling” plays a significant role in the said group where she served as one of the staffs of National Finance Commission (NFC).
“Itong si alias “Laling” na listed as DND-DILG Most Wanted Person with monetary reward of Php5,250,000.00 ay dati ring Secretary ng Regional Organization Department (ROD) at Executive Committee (EXECOM) ng naturang party committee na responsible sa pagpaplano at pagsasagawa ng iba’t-ibang terror attacks sa government forces at iba pang karahasan sa Samar at Leyte,” added PBGen Caramat.
CIDG Director further said that Legazpi is a member of the Demolition-National Operation Command (NOC) in Northern Samar.
Criminal complaints for violation of RA 10591 (An Act Providing for a Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof), RA 9516 (An Act Further Amending the Provisions of PD 1866 as amended re explosives), PD 1829 (Penalizing Obstruction of Apprehension and Prosecution of Criminal Offenders), PD 1835 (Codifying the Various Laws on Anti-Subversion and Increasing the Penalties for Membership in Subversive Organizations), and RA 11479 (Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020) are being readied for filing against the arrested CTG members.
Under the CPNP, PGen Benjamin C Acorda Jr’s 5-Focused Agenda, the CIDG assures the public that no lawbreaker shall escape the long arm of the law because the CIDG will be persistent and vigilant to carry out its anti-criminality campaigns against offenders and those who pose threat to the peace and security of the country. ###
